Poolside Protocol, Vol. 1

A summer playlist for the golden hour, eleven tracks for wet hair, warm concrete, and the particular joy of having nowhere else to be.

Some protocols are clinical. This one is not. This is the other kind of care, the kind measured in afternoons with nowhere to be, the smell of sunscreen and chlorine, and a drink sweating a ring onto the concrete beside you.

We built this to move like a real day at the water: a slow, bright open; a heat-of-the-afternoon dip; then that long amber slide into evening where everything softens and the good mischief begins. Put it on, put your phone face-down, and let it run.

Hydrate. Reapply. Repeat. This is body-positive in the most literal sense, your body, in the sun, being glad about it.

How to play it

There’s no wrong way, but there is a best way. Start it before anyone’s fully arrived, while the light is still climbing and the first coffee or first spritz is in hand, the early tracks are built to set a temperature, not demand attention. Let it run unshuffled; the order is the point, the same way the arc of a good day is the point. Keep the volume generous but conversational, the kind you can talk over and still feel in your chest. And when the sun tips past its peak and the shadows get long and blue, you’ll notice the playlist tipping with it. That’s on purpose. Follow it down.

Side A, the long, bright afternoon

01. Overture (towels down.), A slow instrumental open, all Rhodes piano and distant water. The sonic equivalent of choosing your lounger and deciding, firmly, not to move for several hours.

02. Golden, Uncomplicated, Sun-warmed disco with the tempo dialed back. The first real grin of the day, the one you feel in your shoulders as they finally drop.

03. Deep End, Bass you feel in your sternum. For the walk to the edge, the breath, and the plunge that resets your whole nervous system.

04. Coconut Oil & Bad Decisions, Louche, funny, a little filthy in the best way. Someone across the pool just caught your eye and it’s going to be a whole thing.

05. Siesta (do not disturb), A downtempo float. Eyes closed, sun red through your lids, the world reduced to warmth and one very good bassline.

Side B, golden hour into the long evening

06. The Reapplication, A cheeky, strutting interlude. Stand up, stretch, do a slow lap of the deck. Yes, you look good. That was the point.

07. Amber Light, The hour when everything turns to honey and everyone gets ten percent more beautiful. Lush strings, a melody that aches a little.

08. Salt on Skin, Warm, slow, unmistakably sensual. Wet hair drying, a shoulder against a shoulder, the day’s heat still radiating off you both.

09. First Cold Drink of the Evening, Effervescent, bright, celebratory. The exhale of a day well spent, in a chilled glass.

10. Nowhere Else to Be, Spacious and grateful. The sky going violet, the pool lights flickering on, the specific luxury of an evening with no next thing.

11. Last Ones by the Water, A tender, unhurried close. The crowd’s thinned, the concrete’s still warm, and you’re not ready to go in yet. Let it fade on its own.

The mood, in three notes

  • Unhurried. Nothing here is in a rush, and neither are you.
  • Sensual, not urgent. Warmth over heat. The slow build is the whole pleasure.
  • Generous. Play it loud enough to share. Someone will ask what it is, and you’ll get to say it’s the Cabana Protocol like it means something. It does.

Consider this an invitation to do less, better. Put the errands down. Let the phone drift somewhere out of reach. The whole premise of the club is that rest and pleasure aren’t the reward for taking care of yourself, they’re part of it, the softest and most underrated part. A long afternoon by the water, in a body you’re glad to be in, is its own kind of maintenance.

Vol. 2 lands when the evenings do. Until then: hydrate, reapply, and stay in the water a little longer than you meant to.

Ready when you are

The pool club, not the clinic.

Doctor-led care that was built to feel like the good part of summer. Have a look around.
